We’re Officially a Non-Profit!
Fine Tuning Our Future
If you’ve been following our journey over the last few years, you know that our mission has always been to bring the raw emotional force, tenderness, and jubilation of world-class sacred, classical, and theatrical music to life.
From our unbelieveable start on the Jack Singer Concert Hall stage for the Litany of St. Joseph, standing-room-only attendance for our sacred choral programs at the Shrine in Canmore, our ongoing recording projects, and the powerful staged drama of the Marquis Opera Orchestra collaborating with Alberta Vocal Arts and Calgary Concert Opera Company, we have poured our hearts into building something important (to us, anyway).
Today, we are thrilled to announce a major milestone in our ensemble's development: Marquis Music is officially incorporated as a nonprofit.
What This Means for Us (and You!)
Incorporating is a natural and exciting step forward as we grow. It provides a formal, flexible structure that will allow the Marquis Chamber Orchestra, Chorus, and Opera Orchestra to scale up operations, secure bigger theatrical collaborations, and continue producing exceptional professional performances across Alberta and beyond.
But while our official name and legal structure are getting an upgrade, our soul remains exactly the same. We are still the same team dedicated to creating "soul-penetrating" musical experiences for musicians of varying experience.
Building on Incredible Momentum
This landmark announcement comes at a truly special time for us. We are still riding the high of a remarkable season, which recently included:
Award-Winning Music: The Litany of St. Joseph, composed and conducted by Carlos Foggin and performed by our very own orchestra and chorus, was named the 2026 YYCMA Classical Recording of the Year!
Operatic Milestones: The Marquis Opera Orchestra providing the flexible, professional orchestral backbone for fully staged masterworks like Cavalleria Rusticana, Suor Angelica, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.
A Heartfelt Thank You
An ensemble is nothing without its community. This milestone is a shared victory. To our incredible professional musicians, our brilliant community chorus members, our local church partners, and—most importantly—our audiences who fill every extra row of seats: Thank you. Your electric energy and unwavering support are the reason Marquis Music continues to thrive.
We are just getting started, and we can’t wait to share what we have in store for the next season.
